The information that you register with BurnDir will absolutely not be used for any purpose other than to inform other burners how to find you on the Playa. BurnDir is a non-profit public service with no commercial links whatsoever, and we would never dream of violating the trust placed in it by the Burning Man community by making the email list available to third parties.

Bear in mind, however, that the list is publically searchable, and it is possible to pull a registered email address out of the results; I have added a 'NOSPAM-' onto the email address to prevent automatic parsers from harvesting addresses, but it is still possible.

If you are concerned about this availability, you do not have to save an email address when registering; you can simply leave your Playa information.

In addition, friends' email addresses submitted during registration are never displayed publically, but used immediately to send notification email of your listing and then saved in case you need to update and announce again.
